Golden Triangle Travel Guide

What the Golden Triangle covers

Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, connected by road in a rough triangle — hence the name. It's the most-travelled route in India for good reason: each city is genuinely distinct, and the distances between them are manageable by private car.

How long to allow

4 days is workable; 6 days is comfortable; 7–8 days allows an extension to Ranthambore, Varanasi or additional time in Jaipur.

Road distances

Delhi to Agra: approximately 3.5–4 hours. Agra to Jaipur: approximately 5–5.5 hours, often broken up with a stop at Fatehpur Sikri.

Practical tips

Visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise both for the light and to avoid the largest crowds. Remember it is closed to visitors on Fridays. Old Delhi is best explored on foot or by cycle-rickshaw with a local guide rather than by car.
