Tiger Safari Guide

Choosing a reserve

Ranthambore is the most accessible from the Golden Triangle and Rajasthan. Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Pench and Tadoba form a Central India cluster generally reached via Nagpur or Jabalpur. Jim Corbett suits travellers combining wildlife with the Uttarakhand Himalayan foothills.

How safaris work

Game drives run in open-top jeeps, typically at dawn and late afternoon, inside a specific numbered zone with a park-authorised naturalist. Permits are limited and allocated in advance.

Realistic expectations

No reputable operator can guarantee a tiger sighting. These are wild animals in a large natural habitat, not a managed enclosure. We recommend a minimum of 3–4 drives across 2–3 days to give a fair opportunity.

Best season

March to June generally sees higher sighting frequency as vegetation thins, though it is hotter. October to February is cooler and still productive. Most reserves close for parts of the monsoon.
